Lectures

Jens Kastner, born 1970, PD Dr. phil. habil., Sociologist and Art Historian, lives as freelance author und university lecturer in Vienna (A). Associated Professor at the Institute for Sociology at the University of Muenster (1999–2004), at the Center for Latin American Studies (Cela) at the University of Muenster (2004–2006), at the Vienna Art School (2005/2006), at the Institute for Economic and Social History at the University of Vienna University (2008), in the project studies programme/ Institute for “International Development” at the University of Vienna (2008, 2010, 2016, 2018, 2022), and at the Institute for Art and Design at TU Vienna (2009-2013). Since 2008, research associate/ senior lecturer at the Institute for Art Theory and Cultural Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
Habilitation at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Leuphana University Lüneburg 2018. He is coordinating editor of Bildpunkt. Magazine of IG Bildende Kunst.
Articles in several newspapers and magazines on social movements, Cultural Studies and contemporary art. Research interests include cultural theory and art criticism, history and theory of social movements, anarchism and Latin American Studies.
