abstract: "The dissertation project deals with the audible dimensions of the biblical text corpus. Based on different chapters and verses from the Old and New Testament, a cartography of overstimulated musical affects is to be created. The role of music and sonic gestures is particularly examined in relation to the interweaving of ritual and warlike purposes. In the first part of the work, the sonic instrumentation of the Bible is elaborated upon, and the distinction between individual and collective sound generation is explained. For the most part, the Psalms, Chronicles, and the two Books of Kings are used as sources. In the second part, the focus shifts specifically to trumpets, horns, and trombones. As instruments at the intersection of cult and war, they span from the mighty sounding of the horns during God's descent on Mount Sinai in Exodus 19:16 to the eschatological Seven Trumpets in Revelation 8:6–11:19. Drawing on Steve Goodman's seminal work "Sonic Warfare – Sound, Affect, and the Ecology of Fear," an aesthetic is to be developed that engages with the sonic weapons of the monomaniacal-despotic war god Yahweh. The aim is to conceive a Musica Sacra that emancipates itself from pedagogical-edifying community purposes in order to re-appropriate the eventful tragedy of a concrete divine manifestation. To achieve this, three passages will be musically interpreted and scored: the trumpets of Jericho (Joshua 6:6-20), the conquest of Midian (Judges 7:16-22), and the aforementioned Seven Trumpets (Revelation 8:6–11:19).Biography:Amar Priganica *1994 in Singen (Hohentwiel), GermanyEducation:since 2022 Doctoral studies in Philosophy under the supervision of Elisabeth von Samsonow, Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna2016-2022 Expanded Pictorial Space, Mag.art., Class of Daniel Richter, Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna2015-2016 Artistic Photography, Diploma, Class of Anja Manfredi, Schule Friedl Kubelka, Vienna2012-2016 Business Administration, BSc, University of ViennaExperience:since 2020 Amar Priganica's Music Podcast2020-2022 Artistic-Curatorial Reading and Exhibition Series, Kunstverein Ve.Sch, Vienna10/2019 Panel Discussion "Archives," Hugo Zorn, Steirischer Herbst, Forum Stadtpark, Graz09/2019 Guest Lecture and Workshop, Schule Friedl Kubelka "Phoneytorial" with Marie-Claire Gagnon, Parallel Viennasince 2019 Archivist, Wien Museumsince 2019 Co-founder of Hugo Zorn – Magazine and Visual Platform for Contemporary Art Discourse2018 Editorial Collaboration, Texte zur Kunst, Berlin2016-2018 Editor and Author at PW-Magazine – Bilingual Art Magazine, Vienna2015-2016 Electric Orpheus Academy – Participation in the Symposium for Electroacoustic Music under the direction of Günther RablSelected Publications:Schule Friedl KubelkaThe first 30 years – Photography: http://www.schulefriedlkubelka.at/fotoschule/projekte/vorschau-30-jahre/Kunstverein LeipzigText contribution to the book publication within the group exhibition "Baroque Topologies": https://kunstverein-leipzig.org/actions/baroque-topologiesVienna Bible Collective artistic reinterpretation of the Gutenberg Bible, edited by Therapy PressHugo Zorn – Magazine for Contemporary Art Discourse „Der Hausfreund“ – An Interview with Cosima Rainer and Robert MüllerPW-Magazine – Bilingual Viennese Art Magazine Heimo Zobernig: "Simple is Actually Complicated": https://pw-magazine.com/2018/heimo-zobernig-einfach-ist-eh-kompliziertAlexander Kluge's Poetic Power of Theory: https://www.pw-magazine.com/2018/alexander-kluges-poetische-kraft-der-theorie/Selected Solo and Group Exhibitions:2022 "Book of Hours", Solo Exhibition and Book Presentation, Diploma, Kunstverein Ve.Sch, Vienna "Fast for the Eyes", Exhibition and Reading in the Lutheran City Church Vienna wit"
